The Fairfax County Public Schools system ( FCPS) is a school division in the U.S. commonwealth of Virginia. It is a branch of the Fairfax County government, which administers public schools in Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax. FCPS's headquarters is located in the Gatehouse Administration Center in Falls Church, Virginia.
This is a list of some of the 5,000 Rosenwald Schools built across the South from Texas to Virginia and from Florida to Oklahoma. There once were 5,000 or so Rosenwald Schools in the United States, primarily serving Black Americans. At least 58 of these schools are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
Luther Jackson Middle School. 38°52′06″N 77°13′44″W Luther Jackson Middle School (Region 2, [ 1] grades 7–8 [ 47] ), located southwest of Falls Church, is one of 26 public middle schools in the county. It opened in 1954 as Luther Jackson High School, the first all-black high school in Fairfax County.
