On 9 December 2010, the US Navy officially announced that Naval Station Everett, Washington, was the new homeport for USS Nimitz, replacing Abraham Lincoln, which would be undergoing a scheduled refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) at the Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding-Newport News shipyard in Virginia, which is slated to begin in 2013.

Oklahoma City. (SSN-723) USS Oklahoma City (SSN-723), a Los Angeles -class submarine, is the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The contract to build her was awarded to Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company in Newport News, Virginia on 13 August 1981 and the keel was laid down on 4 January 1984.
Armament. 4 × 4"/50 caliber guns. The collier USS Proteus (AC-9) was laid down on 31 October 1911, by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, and launched on 14 September 1912. She was the lead ship of her class of four colliers. She was commissioned on 9 July 1913, to the United States Navy.
