Southeast University (SEU) was established in June 2002 as a private university under the Private University Act 1992. The President of Bangladesh is the chancellor. The university is run by a number of statutory bodies as required under the provisions of the Private University Act, 1992.
The Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) is situated in Gazipur District, approximately 40 km (25 mi) north of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. It is about 20 km (12 mi) away from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Gazipur is well-connected by roads and railways with Dhaka and other major cities of Bangladesh.
By 2018, the university had 4 faculties with a total of 17 departments, and enrollment was 2900. Approximately 70% of students were pursuing degrees in engineering and technology, 15% in business, and 8% in science. About one tenth of the students were female. [1] It moved to its permanent campus in Savar Upazila in 2022. [10]
The university provides about 10 to 12 crore taka as scholarship in every year, one of the highest amongst the private universities of Bangladesh. [ 14 ] The university provides several scholarships to students including the eLINK and cLINK scholarships established with the support of the European Union.
