9,336 ft (2,846 m) Website. Taylor Park Dam. Part of the Uncompahgre Project located on the western slope of central Colorado, the Taylor Park Dam was engineered by the Bureau of Reclamation. It is located on the Taylor River, a tributary of the Gunnison River, and the dam is used to create the Taylor Park Reservoir in Gunnison County, Colorado.
From there it flows southwest. At Almont, the Taylor River joins with the East River to form the Gunnison River. The river is 48.2 miles (77.6 km) long. [3] Most of the river lies within the Gunnison National Forest. It is a popular river for fly fishing of trout [4] [5] and for whitewater rafting. [6]
