First time running the 'Full Virus Scan' this morning...and half an hour later its still showing 0%. I read somewhere that if its the first time using Avast scanning feature, the 'very first scan' stores all the files its scanning. So next time you scan your PC again, it scans the files quicker..I think? Or something like that

Hardware configuration: Intel i5-8600 3.10 GHz processor. 16 MB RAM. 64 bit. I run a scheduled Full Virus Scan on Sundays and for the first time, it hung, after completing 54%. This is very frustrating. Whenever I try to download anything from any site, even if I am 100% certain that it is secure, it fails to download and I get the message "Failed - Virus scan failed". I even tried to download the uninstall from Avast and couldn't download it. Help!!!

Paid versions of avast may well run the Smart Scam, but many of the modules in the smart scan are for paid version of the type of scan, e.g. CleanUP, Ransomware, if you hadn't paid for these modules, a free version would scan, but couldn't actually do anything ...
I conducted a full virus scan and after the bar reached 100% it was stuck and there was only a blank page in the see details page. I am able to stop the scan by restarting the computer. After that I checked the scan history, and it told me that "some files cannot be scanned". I attempted a second scan and the same thing happened.

I have just opened Windows Explorer and selected a file right click to start the scan on the file, the scan completed relatively quickly (small file) and a popup windows bottom right of the screen opens to confirm the scan and result.
