Last night I upgraded from Macrium Reflect free 6.3 to 7.2. Normally my images with verification go pretty quick but last night it took an hour. Did they slow the free version down or is there a setting that is different in this version? The only thing I see might be in Other Tasks - Edit...
I have a big USB key on my keychain for exactly this...install Reflect Free, setup the USB stick as a boot environment (slimmed-down Windows that boots up to Macrium for restoring), then clone the currently-installed drive to an image file on the stick. Swap out drives, boot up to USB, restore that image to the new drive, voila!
Another Macrium Reflect user. I imaged two Windows 8 PCs then did the free upgrade to Windows 10 before the free cutoff date. Then I reimaged the drives back to Windows 8 with no issues.

Free Macrium says Free Reflect will be retired as explained near the bottom of Link. It's a little confusing. Mid-page they explain "extended support" for v. 8 until till a year past whenever in future they release Reflect v. 9. I think this is about the paid version only.
Well, the e-mails finally came in, they must have just been delayed from the number of users buying Macrium Reflect 8. BTW, requesting the "Free" version, still ended up with 7. So there's no free version of 8 yet, although there was a banner in the free version to click on to buy 8.
I never used Macrium Reflect Free 8 though. To show HDD/SDD models, in Windows Disk Management, right click on left most side of the disk (showing disk 0 to disk n) , then choose properties. If you can boot from external drive without any changes, congratulations!

There have been some reports of paid Reflect installations spontaneously downgrading to the Free version. Most if not all of the ones I've seen have been reported in connection with installing a new Windows 10 feature release. If that's what happened to you, then you can just provide your key again and allow the installation to proceed.
