Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, commonly known by the acronym HSTU is a public university of Bangladesh. Locally it is known as Hajee Danesh University. It is the first science and technology university in the northern region of Bangladesh.
Founded in 1876 as the Dacca Survey School and gained university status in 1962, it is the oldest institution for the study of engineering, architecture, and urban planning in Bangladesh. [6] [7] BUET is considered to be the most prestigious university in Bangladesh for science and research. [8]
In 1985, the NIEMT was renamed the Bangladesh Institute of Distance Education (BIDE) which offered, apart from audio-visual materials, a Bachelor of Education (BEd) programme via distance learning validated by the University of Rajshahi.
