The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka was established as the eleventh University in Sri Lanka and was opened on 31 January 1996 by President Chandrika Kumaratunga. Over the years, the University has developed to become a centre of excellence in higher education in the North Central Province as well as in Sri Lanka.
The faculty maintains close links with the Sri Lanka Law College, which conducts the law exams need for admittance as an Attorney at Law. Being the first Law Faculty in the country, and the oldest Faculty of Law in the entire University system of the country it conducts both undergraduate and post-graduate degree programs in the field law.

History [ edit] The University of Moratuwa is an independent state university in Katubedda, Moratuwa, Sri Lanka overlooking Bolgoda Lake. It was established as the University of Moratuwa (UoM), Sri Lanka on 22 December 1978 under the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 and operates under the general direction of the University Grants Commission.
