This 18-acre (73,000 m 2 ) interactive museum was founded in 1965 on Navy Point, once a site of seafood packing houses, docks, and work boats.
This section is now (2021) occupied by the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and a waterside restaurant. Another son of Robert Auld Dodson was Henry Clay Dodson (1840-1914), who was a businessman and politician. He served as St. Michaels town commissioner and postmaster. He also served in the Maryland House of Delegates and Maryland Senate.
