Exact wording from Applicant handbook (page 2 of pdf): Early Action: Early Action is a non-binding (applicants are not required to accept an appointment, if offered) review guaranteeing if you submit all required application items by October 15th, you’ll. be notified of our decision no later than January 15th.
You won't get much explanation from USCGA Admissions, but looking through old acceptance numbers you'll see the answers don't change much: they pick most of the class during early admission but that's when the recruited athletes, LOAs and strongest candidates usually apply so it's hard to determine cause and effect.

Dartmouth: acceptance rate is 10%, average SAT is 1480, ACT is 32. Duke: acceptance rate is 10%, average SAT is 1485, ACT is 32 or 33. Vanderbilt: acceptance rate is 11%, average SAT is 1475, ACT is 33. USMA: acceptance rate is 10%, average SAT is 1300, ACT is 28/29. I am wondering what accounts for this anomaly.
That seems counterintuitive from an outsider perspective. AIM acceptance is roughly double the academy rate. While a student could improve their application between AIM and full admissions deadlines it seems implausible that someone unable to stand out enough for a 30% acceptance rate could improve enough in under a year to stand out enough make the cut on a 15% acceptance rate to the same pla
