If you want to dump it using your computer, you need to own a compatible bluray drive (not every pc bluray drive can read ps3 discs) and then you need to decrypt it. The complete guide is here: Dumping Blu-ray disc games. The emulator as all have stated is RPCS3. You should check out their Quickstart page.
I have RetroArch installed on my PC and am wanting to play PS3 games on my PC. My understanding is that I need to download and load a PS3 core via RetroArch. However when I go to "Load Core", it only goes as high as PS2. When looking at the downloads page on the RetroArch site, it lists PS3 (PSL1GHT) but the link is broken.
Hello Reddit! RPCS3 is a PlayStation 3 emulator that runs on Windows, Linux and BSD. The project started being developed in 2011 and today we have almost half of the PS3 Game Library as Playable.
It tells you all about emulation, although this was on series S. Can’t remember if they mentioned ps3 or not. Unfortunately, PS3 emulation is still not very good. The current most popular emulator takes a pretty powerful computer to run. The Series X isn't strong enough. Next generation probably.
Yes and no. The Cell in the PS3 was great for crunching through big data payloads in much the same way a supercomputer does (break them up into small units of work). But that doesn't translate well for a game's workload -- games didn't have as many workloads as the Cell had cores, so the extra power went unused.
RPCS3 v0.0.28-15314: New option to automatically pause emulation when the window is not focused. Update. An option to automatically pause emulation when the emulator window is not focused was added in the "Emulator" tab of the settings window on RPCS3 v0.0.28-15314. This allows for lower CPU usage when multi-tasking, thus lower power ...
the only ps3 emulator listed on wikipedia is rpcs3. there is an open issue on the rpcs3 github for a core, looks like someone put a bounty up for it as for running on the series x, there are some roadblocks
kornelius_III. • 2 yr. ago. You need a good PC to emulate anything wiith RPCS3. Even then some games are still not playable yet or aren't fully optimized yet, so you would need an even more powerful machine to bruteforce through those. I have an okay PC. Ryzen 5 5600x + RX6600 + 16gb ram, many intensive games like Uncharted 2, God of War 3 ...
Didn’t know that Bayonetta 2 was released on PS3. Borderlands is unplayable, as it will crash/freeze when trying to save the game. So, sure its playable, if you can complete the whole thing in one sitting! otherwise, back to the beginning you go. I tried to run 25 of the 25 games shown. No one worked.
Spider-Man 3 : Works great. Boots and is playable. Some lag here and there but overall works pretty good. If you like terrible games and have a soft spot for spider-man, I recommend the install. Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions : Almost perfect. A bit of lag here and there, but otherwise it plays smoothly at 60 fps with little dips.
