The Great Plains Art Museum is a fine arts museum located in Lincoln, Nebraska that is dedicated to the arts of the Great Plains in the United States.. The museum, which opened in 1981 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was founded with the Christlieb Collection (sculptures, paintings, drawings, photographs and library), donated by John and Elizabeth Christlieb of Bellevue, Nebraska.
From 1961 to 1982, Trail Dust Town was the site of one of Tucson's earliest community theater companies, Playbox Theatre. Playbox started several years earlier in a vacant church near the University of Arizona (later home to the Loft Theater, an early art film theater in Tucson) but it moved to Trail Dust Town in order to grow.
Bailey Doogan (October 24, 1941 – July 4, 2022) was an American artist best known for her large-scale, feminist paintings and drawings that offer an unflinching look at the aging, female body and that tackle cultural issues like the equation of beauty with youth.
The property is a series of buildings scattered throughout a natural desert setting. Built in Tucson near the intersection of Swan Road and Skyline the property is now a museum open to the public. Construction began in 1951 with the open air Mission in the Sun followed by a series of other expressionistic adobe buildings.
