Recently I made the decision to start watching One Piece, and it looks like I'm definitely in for a wild ride! I'd like to give my thoughts on the different arcs of the East Blue saga here: Overall Thoughts. Overall I really liked the show so far! It has some great fleshed-out characters and inspiring moments.

For example, Zoros fight with Mihawk makes zero sense in it. Good animation but thats it. The barrel scene happens in Episode 53 but the next episode is a filler arc which begins on Episode 54. I am now reaching the point where i just wanted to catch up with the manga and I wanted to know if watching the episode of east blue gives me a better, or atleast equal experience of one piece compared to the anime. For me the best part of OP is the East Blue saga. Almost fifty episodes. In my opinion watch the East Blue saga completely, after that you can watch the Alabasta movie instead of more than one hundred episodes, or Skypiea movies instead of many episodes. Just do not skipe East Blue saga. It is the funnest part of the OP, IMO.
Does Episode of East Blue skip any major plot points? Help. Title pretty much says it all. I’m trying to get my girlfriend into One Piece but despite the fact she loves anime, getting her to watch 950+ episodes is a tough sell. I wanted to maybe get her into it by watching Episode of East Blue together and seeing if she enjoys that.
A lot of important details are left out / changed in the East Blue special. However, part of the reason the series has a slow start is to allow the viewer to slowly become attached to the characters and their personalities and ideals, leading to a greater emotional payoff when something big finally happens.
