The University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine, also known as the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA ( DGSOM ), is an accredited medical school located in Los Angeles, California, United States. Founded in 1951, it is the second medical school in the University of California system, after the UCSF School of Medicine.
Admission to the school has been highly competitive for a long time. The Yale Herald reported that the school received 1,270 applications for the class of 1999 and admitted 68 applicants for an acceptance rate of 5.4%. [4] In 2010, annual applications peaked at 1,520, with strict caps on admission to each of the school's nine programs. [5]
