4.89 for regular here in my neighborhood. It’s dropped and was near 6.00 a few weeks ago. Nothing is cheap here across the board.
I recently did a move from Michigan to Orlando in a 26 foot Penske fully loaded not hauling a car. I averaged right at 8 MPG and drove 1185 miles and that had major hills and mountains in Tennessee and Kentucky as mentioned before and it cost right at $350 with average gas price of about $2.30 for diesel.
On the way to and from DFW, I made pit stops in Midland. The HEB on Midkiff always has the cheapest gas in town according to GasBuddy. Nearby is Fazoli's, a cheap Italian fast food chain that we don't have in DFW that I miss from my time as a student at A&M. Paid $5 for a plate of spaghetti and lasagna with drink and unlimited breadsticks.
Reason for buying a diesel are way better gas mileage, greater pulling power and much longer engine life. I currently drive a Honda Fit 100 miles a day at 32 mpg. I make a whopping $13.29 x 37 hours a week and so does my wife. In Vegas we will make $23.52 x 40 hours possibly OT.
