We perform DXA studies in our office. The DXA measures the bone density of the femoral neck and the spine. I have been looking for the specific ICD-10 for osteopenia of the femoral neck and/or the spine. All I can find in the M85.8 section is thigh , left or right, which is not a hip. For the spine, I don't find anything close to the spine.
Cameron, NC. Best answers. 0. Jun 24, 2015. #1. I have been using ICD-10 M85.8_ for osteopenia as my crossover code for733.90 although my software links M85.8_ to 733.99 and M89.9 to 733.90. I believe the most appropriate ICD-10 code for osteopenia would M85.8_ because of it specificity.
