Hi I was doing ok with Windows 10 and Kindle 1.17.0 version Was able to download my books bought by usb option Hower Kindle for PC woldn't work after updating to Win 11. So I uninstalled kindle program and re installed the same Kindle 1.17.0 thinking that any other version would stop me converting??? The new books I buy are downloading to the PC ok
However, you might have to go into device management on Amazon's website and clear out old devices if, for example, you reload Windows and the Kindle App and it gets detected as a new device. Last edited by NavyLCDR; 20 Apr 2016 at 06:19 .
As of 11/29/2023, the NOOK for Windows App is no longer available for new downloads from the Microsoft Store. However, existing customers can continue to use the app as usual, with all previous NOOK content accessible in their NOOK Library.

The newer Kindle for PC app available in the app store for Windows 11 and the latest Kindle for Mac app (7.0 and later) cannot be used to download usable books. Most books downloaded using the PC/Mac apps will be in KFX format. This format is highly processed by Amazon.

Windows 11 includes built in Android emulation with apps supplied by Amazon, including the Kindle app. Users can use both the old Kindle for PC and this new app and they are independent of each other. I suspect that once Windows 10 reaches end-of-life in two years there will be a similar deprecation and transition to the new app on Windows.

The old Kindle for Mac app (now called Kindle Classic) is deprecated and will supposedly receive no further updates. I felt that the Kindle for PC app was on track to meet the same fate once support for Windows 10 ended. But now this change breathes new life into the old PC app. I wonder how long Amazon has been anticipating the demise of WSA.
