As a fellow CCSD teacher I got this info today. In CCSD a Sponge user is has the same privileges as a teacher, but cannot make any changes. This way someone can copy your course content but can't change it. Great way for PLCs to work together but still lets you customize your course.
If you have already cross-listed a course that you cannot de-cross-list, contact your Canvas admin. You must be enrolled in both courses to crosslist a section. In order to create a Canvas account, you will need the Canvas URL associated with the school where your student is enrolled. If you do not know your school's Canvas URL, contact your student's school. If you already have an account from your student's school, log in to Canvas using the credentials given to you. Notes:
Some institution's may also allow access to Canvas via an institution-specific authentication system which redirects to Canvas, such as a school portal or website. Note: Canvas Network and Free-For-Teacher accounts do not follow an institution-specific URL structure. Canvas Network accounts can be accessed at learn.canvas.net.
Because there is a number of individuals experiencing the same issue, I encourage you to reach out to CCSD's Canvas Support or Canvas Administrator for assistance. There may be something they can do locally. They could also group the reports into a single support ticket and submit it to Canvas directly. I wish I had a "now" answer for you!
