I cook the old fashioned kind, not the instant and I top mine with a dab of real butter, some cream and some brown sugar. mmmmmmm good.
My aunt is diabetic and she will snack on trail mix. Maybe some peanut butter with crackers? It is really hard to eat well while at the hospital but so important for someone with diabetes.

DH is not diabetic, however, he is intolerant of foods with high sugar content. He has no problem with regular foods with carbs, just sweets. Doctor had never seen anything like it. DH met someone many years ago with the same problem. No sugar doesn't mean low fat and lots of diabetic sweets are high in fat.

I keep enough food in my pantry, I could probably go several months without having to go and buy anything. It might not always be exactly what you are yearning for, but there would be food in the house to eat.
