  2. To stay on Eliquis or not - Mayo Clinic Connect

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/to-stay-on-eliquis-or-not

I gladly accept taking Eliquis the rest of my life if I can see the reason. But if I accepted the concept of better safe than sorry than PCP and cardiologist should and probably would start writing out scripts for DOAC to everyone over 70 - 75 but definitely feel that's not good or necessary.

  3. Half dose of eliquis? - Mayo Clinic Connect

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/half-dose-of-eliquis

Thanks for the reply. My side effects from full dose eliquis are excessive bleeding from cuts and scrapes and stomach upset likely due to reflux. Small price to pay for stroke risk reduction! I have great doctors that work with me and try to address my concerns. I need to reconsider my eliquis dosage.

  4. Cardiologist suggests I can stop taking Eliquis. Any thoughts?

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/stopping-eliquis-1

I’m assuming that the Eliquis would be helpful if I got covid and clots. Another is that I am on a very low dose of tamoxifen which has a small risk of clots. Am concerned that going off the Eliquis could have a negative impact from the tamoxifen. I had not taken any medications except short term until I started with Eliquis and losartan.

Hi @j68eis You were asking questions as to why you have low platelets with consideration of the Covid vaccine or taking Eliquis. Many outside factors, including meds, illness, vaccines, etc., can lower platelets or affect other blood numbers.

  6. Just diagnosed. Doctor prescribed Eliquis and Metoprolol. I was wondering what side effects common. I read there is a rare side effect of hair thinning for metoprolol. (take 25 mg 2x day) Also read that Eliquis can sometimes cause some stomach discomfort. (5 mg 2x day) Can either medications be taken in lesser amounts?

I've tried calcium in the past but don't do well on it. Constipation is an issue and as I've had a hemi-colectomy and I've avoided calcium.

  8. Taking apixaban (Eliquis): Any foods or supplements to avoid?

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/apixaban-5mg-twice-a-day

I had blood clots (bilateral pulmonary embolisms) three months post Covid shot in 2021. Was put on 5mg Eliquis twice daily. I had all kinds of leg pain and issues walking. Changed hematologists who then decided to cut dosage in half. Am now on maintenance dosage of Eliquis 2.5mg twice daily. Am doing much better.

  10. Rare serious side effect of Eliquis: Muscle weakness

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/rare-serious-side-effects-eliquis

    (1) "Had" an adverse reaction; legs recovered quickly after going off Eliquis. (2) Cardiologist had kept me on Eliquis despite Medtronic loop recorder showing that only a small fraction of 1% of the time was I fleetingly in Afib throughout its battery life.

  11. Is is okay to pause oral anticoagulant to have a colonoscopy?

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/colonoscopy-1

I have history of paroxysmal afib and taking eliquis 5mg two times a day .I have to do colonoscopy and my doctor told me to stop eliquis 2 days prior to have colonoscopy, I am very scared to have stroke if I stop it and I asked my doctor to have bridging but he said eliquis doesn’t need bridging.
