I've even used a wire on the snow to get plenty of QSOs. The steps demonstrated here can be used to build a 10' mast or 26' mast. This small mast will be used for trail running and cycling based portable activations. Good luck with your builds! N7KOM, Jul 17, 2023.

  3. Are antennas altered in the presence of carbon fiber masts?

    forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/are-antennas-altered-in...

The VHF tests in the video below reveal carbon fiber antenna masts behave just like any conductor at radio frequencies. I test several items including the Carbon6 portable mast from SOTABEAMS. Long story short, carbon fiber supports have their utility for the radio aficionado with the caveat to treat them as a conductive structure and plan ...

  4. Spiderbeam HD 40ft mast! I love it! - QRZ Forums

    forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/spiderbeam-hd-40ft-mast-i...

Lots of information for spider beam vertical antennas at the DJ0IP web page, we made a 30 FT mast out of a Galvanized pipe and added the 12-meter mast on top of the pipe for the CQWW CW top band contest. The vertical was top-loaded and worked like a champ on the beach by the pacific ocean. 4D2X was the call.

I took photo's because people did not believe I was using indoor antenna. Did have lot of success for the over 11 yrs I lived in the townhouse, with zero interference. Never know how antenna will work until you try it. Today I have outside antenna's and have weather problems to contend with, rain, wind, water, snow etc.

The antenna is 70 pounds. Well within the specs by 10x. HVT will use a crane when neccessary. Will also use a Manlift if Crane and Tram isn't possible. Many ways to ways to rig and get an antenna in the air. There is always going to be others who say this way is better than that way. You decide for yourself.

Performs flawlessly -- extreme DX catcher. But, they're right, it's a "compromise." Still, any time I use it I am impressed with what I get from that compromise. I was only surprised by the nastiness of the commentary. Truly some haters out there who come out of the woodwork to diss your antenna -- ANY antenna. Dave, W7DGJ

  8. Everything you need to know about Wolf River Coils antennas.

    forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/everything-you-need-to...

Longer antenna always better than short loading coil antenna. The "better" match on 80M is due to ground losses using the way way way too short ground radials. The SWR is good but radiation will suck. Personally, I find the wolf river coils lack ability to handle any power.

  10. VHF/UHF antenna polarization and testing - QRZ Forums

    forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/vhf-uhf-antenna...

One way is to take the coax out at an angle from the side of the vertical beam with a boom and then take the coax at a angle to the mast below the antenna. Good advice. But at UHF and VHF please use ---CPVC--- when available---it absorbs less and does no loading. W1YW, Apr 20, 2017. #11.

I have a 10/15/20 tribander up about 45" mounted on a 2" x 10' mast stuck in a Ham IV rotatator in the top section of a Rohn 25 free standing. My problem is that the antenna keeps slipping on the mast, thus not giving me a true direction of the rotator control. Obviously my building practice when putting up leaves something to be desired.
