Netflix advised the activation code applies only to old devices and no activation code is needed on a new Apple TV but I will give your suggestion a try.
Unfortunately I don’t see anything like that on Netflix. There is “Manage download devices” (devices with downloaded content—there’s a limit—not my current problem) and “Activate a device” (for devices that require/provide activation codes upon sign-in—also doesn’t seem to be relevant right now).

If screen mirroring is active at all, it breaks regular playback of netflix, hulu, etc. This happens on all devices and has persisted across many OS versions. Connected my 3rd Gen Apple TV to the power and connected it via USB on my laptop. Start 3utools to find the Apple TV. Selected More. Selected “Batch activation”. Clicked all and Start. Finished. Plugged back into TV and the casting/screen mirror works! On Mac. Use/install apple configurator 2 on your IMac or MacBook.
It works on all of my other devices. I have downloaded the app on Apple TV and we have used it a lot in the past. All other apps (Hulu, ESPN, Paramount, Netflix, etc.) are working. I reset and updated Apple TV and even unplugged it and rebooted. I uninstalled the Prime Video app and then reinstalled it.
