Gnutella is a peer-to-peer network protocol. Founded in 2000, it was the first decentralized peer-to-peer network of its kind, leading to other, later networks adopting the model. [ 1] In June 2005, Gnutella's population was 1.81 million computers [ 2] increasing to over three million nodes by January 2006. [ 3]
The first release was version 1.2.1. [13] Its version numbers appear to start from 1.1.2.1 in the user interface but it presents itself on the gnutella network as versions 6.1.2.1 to 6.2.2.530. This version has since been discontinued by MusicLab and no longer available on their websites; however, it remains in wide usage [citation needed].
LimeWire was the second file sharing program after FrostWire to support firewall-to-firewall file transfers, a feature introduced in version 4.2, which was released in November 2004. LimeWire also now includes BitTorrent support, but is limited to three torrent uploads and three torrent downloads, which coexist with ordinary downloads.

Just Checked, and FrostWire is now in version 5, so that needs to be updated. Additionally, it has now ditched the Gnutella protocol, and only has BitTorrent support.
