Feb 28, 2006. Try a trip to a small gymnastics gym where they can jump on a trampoline, dance to silly songs, etc. That would be great for 5 senses. I liked the idea about having someone come in and bring a fan, paper airplanes, etc! You could also do a tour of a Krispy Kreme place. LiveForHim, Feb 28, 2006. #9.
I have no ideas, but can agree with you about ridiculous bus costs. Currently, for a field trip that costs $3.00 per student, we hve to charge $10.00 per student... 3 for the admisstion and 7 for the bus cost. Our students have to pay the expense, and at my school, 10 bucks for a field trips is a lot.
Swim lessons for a week. Crafts that rock--tye dyeing, sculpting, weaving. Gymnastics. When we ran a summer camp we looked in the yellow pages, and planned field trips to places on our street--donut house, fast food joint, veternary office, pizza restaurant. We also took rides on the subway and bus.
I live in CA and I need some field trip ideas for my 6th graders. Normally, our district allows 6th graders to attend camp for a week but due to some unwanted incident our school no longer attends. So, I need other great ideas for field trips to compensate for the fact that they can't go away for a week.
If you are prevented from going on a field trip, try to at least bring the field trip to your classroom. Often, a zoo or aquarium will have a teaching program and will come to the classroom. We have had wild birds in the classroom! Museums probably also have this program.

The costs of the field trips come from the parents otherwise. If ever I was told that it was too much, I would cut down. The museum for example, is $6 per visit, and the theatre is $11. I would say it's probably close to $100-150 a year, with an overnight. Some trips are free however, like to the beach.
