I'm in the same boat, would also love some ideas. Closest I can think of is some of the free alternatives like Bitwarden or whatever it's called. Could use those for that data since syncing between your devices isn't _as_ important for that data, so if it's slightly more hassle to sync, it's not a big deal.

Bitwarden believe in that every tech user should have a secure vault hence their free plan which is probably the most featured out of any out there but for 10 bucks a year you really cant begrudge supporting them. Using Bitwarden allows for truly cross device synchronisation if you use many different OS's etc.

  4. Bitwarden usage process - Bogleheads.org

My assessment: Bitwarden is a reasonable choice but is not quite as convenient as Lastpass. Bitwarden uses the concept of timing out to close out it's access to the password database. I find this inconvenient. I would like Bitwarden to close its access to the database, not based on timeout, but based on my usage.

  5. recommended password manager... and just how safe is keychain??

Harmonious Zen said: Just bite the bullet and get something like 1Password. Outstanding features, not expensive, very robust security. The standalone version is $65. The two apps I suggested (especially Strongbox) are just as capable as 1Password and free, unless one wants to upgrade via a 1 time purchase.

by dbc47 » Thu Jul 13, 2023 2:33 pm. I use the Microsoft Edge browser and the Bitwarden extension which has been working just fine. This morning Bitwarden won't autofill and constantly wants me to repeatedly log in with my master password. It worked fine yesterday but this morning it's broken. Bitwarden seems to work fine with Chrome which is ...

  7. iCloud Keychain vs 1Password - MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/icloud-keychain-vs-1password.2352804

Enpass and Bitwarden not as smooth as 1Password but works fine for me. Password manager do more than Apple keychain (I also use them too) like add far more extra info like security questions and answers (some websites still use them!!) and some have multiple login like banking use ID and email and some code as well so keychain can’t save all ...

  8. Best password manager, for pc and Android? - Bogleheads.org

    www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=421522

Bitwarden works great on iPhone with FaceID and Safari, much better than Lastpass ever did. PC and Chrome/Edge works fine too. I don't think there's necessarily a single "best" for all people -- but Bitwarden and Dashlane are near the top right now for cross platform use by individuals and families.

  9. Password managers [LastPass alternatives] - Bogleheads.org

I generally like to have a separate manager. If you want to pay nothing or as little as possible, Bitwarden is probably the best free tier. Most of the other password manager will restrict the number of entries or class of clients. If you pay Bitwarden is $10 a year, this is much cheaper than what other vendors charge.

Go with Bitwarden. Never put all your eggs in one basket security-wise. Apple should have been there with a password app years ago, this is an opportunistic move. Don’t expect them to keep updating the app with functionality this is minimum viable product territory and it shows. I’d expect it to get about as many meaningful updates as Clips

  11. Passwords App - Anyone like it? - MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/passwords-app-anyone-like-it.2436882

The success rate of 1Password storing a new password that is created by either Safari or an App is about 40%. The success rate of 1Password offering to autofill something in Safari or an App is about 60%. It's frustrating to say the least, and not the least bit impressive.
