On December 27, 2015, during the first intermission of an Islanders vs. Maple Leafs matchup, Sparky was officially reintroduced as the Islanders mascot. Nyisles was a "seafaring Islander" that the New York Islanders used as a mascot in the mid-90s [ 60 ] prior to Charles Wang obtaining the team and soon replacing him with Sparky the Dragon in 2001.
The same year, the Islanders' attempt at updating their look resulted in the unveiling of a new team logo of a slicker-clad fisherman holding a hockey stick.
