  2. Infiltrator Septic System - DoItYourself.com Community Forums

A standard septic system here runs around $5000.00 the estimate I was given today for the infiltrator system is $2500.00. Quite a difference. It can be installed in about a day and doesn't require anything other then digging a 3 foot wide trench for the system and hooking it up. No rock to bring in or remove and limited distruption to the ...

  3. Is "infiltrator" better than pipe and rock for septic systems?

The pipe and rock will take up less room than some other types. Stone systems are tried and true; so are horse and buggies, so are slide rulers but time and technology have moved on. Infiltrator is not new by any means. The Infiltrator Chamber has been around for 20+ years and other chamber types for 40+ years.

In my area it's the health department that says what you can do to a septic system. A call to them, not identifying who you are, might be in order.

For the past few years, occasionally we will notice an odor emanating from our septic system and sometimes there will be surface water on the ground just beyond the tank. The water is black and oily looking. Last year we had the tank pumped and this solved both problems -- for a few months. Now the problem is back and worse than ever.

This type of septic system disposes the waste through sand, and the ground will absorb the waste. The mound septic system has many good points and bad points.

  7. septic drain fields....a few questions - DoItYourself.com

I am going to have to replace the drainfield on my septic system. Currently it has a traditional terra cota rock filled drainfield that is clogged up with roots. I was wondering if anyone on here has the knowledge to compare different drainfield systems, such as the traditonal, the peat moss system, and the infiltrator chamber systems.

  8. Plumbing 101: Sump Pumps vs. Septic Systems - DoItYourself.com

    www.doityourself.com/stry/plumbing-101-sump-pumps-vs...

While sump pumps are water management systems, septic systems are better equipped to handle water, solid waste, and solid items that are flushed down pipes. Septic tanks are rectangular or cylindrical compartments placed below your waste water pipes, which are then also tied to a drain field. The tank is large and takes up space underground on ...

Down here in rural NC a traditional system for a 2 or 3 bedroom house starts at $8-10k but because of environmental regulations few systems are "traditional". Most common in my area now are chamber (Infiltrator) system with a pump tank which average around $15k. Go down to the coast of NC and system is around $45k.

  10. How to Construct a Washing Machine Drain Field

    www.doityourself.com/stry/how-to-construct-a-washing...

Step 3 - Install the Drain Field. You need to perforate holes in a drain pipe and lay it the length of the hole: a 20 foot pipe for a 20 foot hole, or 25 foot pipe for a longer hole. Once in position, the perforated drain pipe needs to be completely covered with gravel and the drain pipe that removes the water from the washing machine needs to ...

Wells, Sump Pumps and Septic Sewage Systems - Ez Flow or Chambers - If you have a choice between Ex Flow pipe (13 Triangular) and chambers (Quick4 Plus) which is better. Some are saying that dirt goes inside of the chamber through the side louvres since they don't use gravel or fabric over the chambers?
