Meet the Mayor. Welcome to the City of Flat Rock's updated home on the web. It is my honor to serve as Mayor of this great City. Flat Rock has such a rich history and has a wonderful mix of residents, businesses, and industry. We have something for everyone within our boundaries.
History. Flat Rock began as a Wyandot settlement. It was later designated as a reservation for the Wyandot, and still functioned as such in 1830. The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820.
Flat Rock, MI 48134. The Department of Public Works (DPW) strives to ensure that residents have safe roads, clean ditches and a well-maintained water and sewer system. The primary function of the DPW is to provide safe drinking water and an efficient sewer system for the rapidly growing City.
