I'm sorry you're having problems and will try my best to help. Offhand, this crackling sound would indicate an internal hardware fault occurring which will require repairs. However it's worth it to try a hard reset, as sometimes the processor in the TV can simply have locked up. TV Technician: Tim Nolan. This is a very common problem with your tv, what has most likely happened (about 90% of the time) is the power supply has failed, more specifically there are a few caps in the power supply that have most likely failed. The unit will require component replacement to get it working again.
The solution is to have the capacitors, and the voltages from the power supply board checked and serviced. Average cost for this type of repair is going to be around $200-$250 parts and labor. If you need further assistance, let me know.If not, please do not forget to rate my answer. I have a LG plasma 42PC1 TV.
TV Technician: TV Tech1. No, your speakers aren't dying. Audio crackle is actually caused by loss of digital Audio signal, it restores when the signal is strong enough to allow the TV to process it. Crackling is like seeing the picture get blocky and freeze, or even to go black. Both indicate a signal just on the edge of being bad...
What this sounds like is either a bad audio cable or jack on the TV or the crackling is coming from a bad cable box. I would try a new cable and make sure its securely connected first. Let me know. You can also unplug the cable box from power and wait 1 minute then plug it back in to reset the box to see if this helps.
Press the Net TV Button the remote control 2. Navigate to Connected TV Store 3. Select All Apps 4. Search Crackle App and select the icon 5. Select Install If it is not there then your TV is not supported at this time but a Firmware / Software Update in the future may allow it. Best Regards, Carl L
Thank you for that information. This could very well be a bad fan or a blocked vent. If the vent is too dusty it will shut down in a few minutes but if the fan is failing or is sending a poor signal it will shut down much sooner like a few seconds or so.

The first thing I would tell you to do is to unplug the direct tv box for a min and then plug it back in, see if the problem resolves, if not then you will need to contact Direct TV to get a new box. The tv has nothing to do with these functions so it is just coincidental that you are having the issue. Tim.
