  2. Why didn't Julia Duffy/Allison Sugarbaker work - Sitcoms Online

Julia Duffy's Allison however, was gone by the end of the year and replaced by Judith Ivey's B.J. for the seventh and last season. Some theories that I've heard for why it didn't work out for Julia Duffy on Designing Women: The Allison Sugarbaker character was written poorly as a one-dimensional "outsider". You add to the general feeling that ...

October 24, 2020 3:10 PM. In all fairness to Julia Duffy, they just lifted her right off Newhart and dropped her into Designing Women. The rich bitchy girl worked in the environment of Newhart because she was a fish out of water (same template as Diane on Cheers).

  5. Designing Women w/ Julia Duffy Was Their Highest Rated Season

Julia Duffy was a popular actress. She seemed like she'd be a good fit. The two together seemed like the mutual popularity would continue. However, this was not a Shelly Long/Kirstie Alley funny transition on "Cheers." Julia's character of self-centered princess worked well on "Newhart" but not so well on "Designing Women."

Julia Duffy Newhart. Julia's the bomb in whatever she does. I've seen her on Night Warning, Covergirl and the Cop, Kidz in the Wood (still plays on Disney every now and then), Designing Women, and of course, Newhart.

The Doctors (1975) Julia Duffy- The Mother Of Patrick On Looking. She was SO young and pretty back then. WTF? You really are a moron, OP. Julia Duffy's son was named Daniel, and he committed suicide in 2019. She is two years younger than actor Patrick Duffy. She was great on The Doctors.

The Julia Duffy thread: here you go. The Sheryl Lee Ralph thread had several diversions about Julia Duffy, who seems to be one of the women universally liked by Datalounge for her comedy chops and her professionalism. Besides her many TV appearances, Julia wrote a book called "Bad Auditions," and her Twitter account reveals a dry humor and ...

The original cast from the first few seasons was the best. As the seasons dragged on and casts changed, Julia Duffy was very iffy, with occasional funny lines, but as someone said above, often seemed one-dimensionally mean. Judith Ivey was abysmal and completely unwatchable. (Jan Hooks was ok, but the show was a caricature of itself by that point).

  11. Did Julia Duffy have the worst luck for any working actress......

Julia Duffy wasn't even originally meant to star on Baby Talk. It was originally going to feature Connie Sellecca, but she quit after a few episodes had been taped due to her dissatisfaction with the role. Julia then appears on the sixth season of Designing Women to replace the recently departed Delta Burke.
