This should open a new window and the second option there is "Launch Messenger on start-up". If this option is active (blue) you should be able to disable it by dragging the bar to the left. This should stop the opening of the app on Windows start-up. At least this worked for me on my PC with Windows 10 Home :)

I'm having the same problem which started today 07/01/2022. I'm running Windows 10 Pro. Ive cleared all cookies etc., reset my Edge browser in fact I've tried everything that I can think of but the problem still persists. Open FaceBook, a second or so later blank page with 'Sorry something went wrong :(' appears.
