The Macomb Correctional Facility sits on a 100-acre site. It comprises 11 major buildings and two minor buildings, totaling approximately 300,000 square feet. The prison contains four Level II housing units, two Level IV housing units and one Level I housing unit outside the secure perimeter.
Training consists of attending a corrections officer training academy. Applicants will be paid MDOC employees at the start of the academy. Once individuals successfully complete the 8 weeks of training, they will begin two months of on-the-job training at their assigned facilities.
Salary and Benefits. The annual starting salary for an entry-level Corrections Officer is approximately $42,598. The maximum salary for an experienced Corrections Officer after five and a half years of satisfactory service is approximately $65,500.
