Replied on August 17, 2024. Report abuse. There's no official word from Microsoft as to why Paint 3D has been discontinued, but it's safe to assume that the application wasn't being used enough. In addition, the classic Paint application has been greatly enhanced thanks to several updates.

Paint 3D is a modern app, which doesn't use executables like older classic applications. If you want to associate file formats with Paint 3D as the default, you have to do the following. Point a JPEG file Right click it Click Properties Click the General tab Click Change Choose Paint 3D in the list Click OK Click Apply then OK

One thing of note: when you get to the portal and after you search for the package ( that will make sense once you see the post), the packages say Microsoft.MSPaint <version>. It is Paint 3D. After uninstalling the current Paint3D, and installing the previous version package, everything worked fine. Hope this helps!
