e. Advanced Placement ( AP) Art History (also known as AP Art or APAH) is an Advanced Placement art history course and exam offered by the College Board . AP Art History is designed to allow students to examine major forms of artistic expression relevant to a variety of cultures evident in a wide variety of periods from the present to the past.
General periods. Geologic Time – Period prior to humans. 4.6 billion to 3 million years ago. (See "prehistoric periods" for more detail into this.) Primatomorphid Era – Period prior to the existence of Primatomorpha. Simian Era – Period prior to the existence of Simiiformes. Hominoid Era – Period prior to the existence of Hominoidea.
Gardner's Art Through the Ages. Gardner's Art through the Ages is an American textbook on the history of art, with the 2004 edition by Fred S. Kleiner and Christin J. Mamiya. The 2001 edition was awarded both a McGuffey award for longevity [1] and the "Texty" Award for current editions [2] by the Text and Academic Authors Association.
In June 2015, the exam was changed to AP World History: Modern. [1] The new exam only includes material from 1200 CE onwards. Students first took the new course in the 2019–20 school year. The College Board announced the development of AP World History: Ancient, which focuses exclusively on earlier periods, including prehistory. [2]
