   For example: your iPhone 12 mini will not receive iOS 16.7.7, since it is only for phones aren’t eligible for iOS 17 (iPhone X, iPhone 8). So, that just really means you will not receive any updates at all, if you refuse to go higher OS version. If you choose to replace battery with Apple, they might force you to upgrade to latest OS.
