A few years after The Waltons ended, Judy Norton (Mary Ellen) did a spread in Playboy. Years later, she said doing so had seriously damaged her career. The problem with the photos used was that she didn't look at all like Mary Ellen. She'd had breast implants, and her hair and makeup looked nothing like Mary Ellen.
During the run of the show, Judy Norton married, and until the end of the series, was billed as Judy Norton-Taylor. In 1979 she made a television movie called Valentine. She continued her role as Mary Ellen Walton, throughout the run of the series, as well as appearing in the special Waltons movies, made after the series ended.

There was a fairly significant age difference between Richard Thomas and Judy Norton. When the series started, he was 21 and she was 14 ( Mary McDonough was 11). I doubt that he would have been interested in either of the girls at that time, other than in the little sister affectionate way.

Earlier this year, 19 year old Judy Norton married a young singer-musician named Douglas Taylor.
