Gen 2 was supposed to be the end for Pokemon, so they did the 2 regions to give the "complete pokemon experience". Half-right. Gen 2 was supposed to be the end for Pokemon - but the reason why they did two regions wasn't to give the complete experience. Originally, Gen 2 was only supposed to be just Johto.

  4. I updated my Pokémon Transfer guide and it's massive

    www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/f1c5ub/i_updated_my_pokémon_transfer...

Please note - generation 1 and 2 titles on the Gameboy and Gameboy Color systems will not transfer up unless you’ve purchased and played them on the Nintendo 3DS virtual console. There's also the part where, if they haven't been maintaining the batteries in their original gen 1/2 games, then the saves are likely long gone, unfortunately.

Girafarig is very useful, especially since you get him right before the Ghost Gym. His Psychic/Normal typing makes him OP against Morty. Miltank. Despite its notoriety in this gen, it's still a solid team member. Plus you can use Milk Drink on your other team members to save money on Potions.

  7. Guide to shiny breeding mechanics in Gen 2 : r/pokemon - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/.../comments/8hf859/guide_to_shiny_breeding_mechanics_in_gen_2

3: The shiny DVs. For a pokemon to be shiny, it needs 10 DVs in defense, special and speed. And needs 2,3,6,7,10,11,14 or 15 in attack. As the gender of the pokemon is also determined by the attack DVs, female pokemon with a 7/8 chance of being male (e.g.starters) can never be shiny as their attack DVs will always be 0 or 1.

  8. Gen 2 is really underwhelming : r/pokemon - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/jqd49g/gen_2_is_really_underwhelming

A lot of gen 2 Pokemon just aren't good gameplay wise. The starters are just mediocre compared to other starters. For it being a new type for its time, Dark types aren't available until post game. A good number of gen 2 Pokemon had gen 4 evolutions simply because they just didn't have good stats and move sets like Misdreavus, Yanma, Murkrow, etc.

Gen 2(A mess): Crystal Dust: Said to be the best remake on the gen 3(Emerald in specific) engine at the moment. Developed by DoMoreAwesome. Unfinished, the latest version leads up to the Sudowoodo event. Version 2 was released in 2013 and was left dormant for 7 years until version 3 was released in 2020.

  10. Favorite Gen 2 experience? : r/PokemonROMhacks - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/r/PokemonROMhacks/comments/12zyhop/favorite_gen_2_experience

Crystal Clear, mostly because of the open world. If we are talking about Gen 2 games, my favourite will definitely be Polished Crystal. If we are talking about Johto in general, however, my vote would definitely go to Sacred Gold/Storm Silver, two awesome hacks by Drayano.
