What are the School and District Report Cards? As part of the state accountability system, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) produces report cards for every publicly funded school and district in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin uses school and district report cards to provide information to families about their local schools. The report cards measure important pieces of data that shed light on how a school or district is doing and where it can improve.
The DPI publishes school and district report cards annually, as required by Wis. Stat. 115.385. Report cards include data for multiple school years across four priority areas: Achievement, Growth, Target Group Outcomes, and On-Track to Graduation.
At the foundation of Wisconsin’s state accountability system are the school and district report cards, which annually report on the performance of all public schools and districts, including charter schools, and private schools participating in a parental choice program.
The report cards summarize student performance and student engagement for each school and district and assign an accountability rating and score. The report cards aim to reflect a balanced view of performance by incorporating multiple student outcome measures.

The School Performance Report law pre-dates the School and School District Accountability Report Card Law, the School and School District Report Cards, as well as the WISEdash Public Portal. These have replaced the SPR reporting requirement.
Timeline for 2022-23 Report Cards. School and district report cards for the 2022-23 school year will be released in Fall 2023 with a final public release no later than November 30, 2023. All dates are tentative, subject to change, and will be updated as soon as possible.
