Website. www .psgcas .ac .in. PSG College of Arts and Science ( PSG CAS) is a College of Arts and Sciences in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1947 by G. R. Damodaran. It was ranked 11th among colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024. [ 1]
In 1943, Damodaran joined the PSG Industrial Institute. In 1948, he started a Tamil monthly magazine Kalaikathir, devoted to science and technology. It installed a Heidelberg printing machine and computerized photo typesetting machine. He was the founder of PSG College of Technology and founder principal of PSG College of Arts and Science.
The group was established as PSG & Sons’ charities in 1926 by the four sons of P.S. Govindasamy Naidu namely Venkataswamy Naidu, Rangaswamy Naidu, Ganga Naidu and Narayanaswamy Naidu. PSG College of Technology's campus is located approximately 6 km east of Coimbatore. The college is located about 5 km from the Coimbatore Junction railway station and Coimbatore International Airport. The campus is spread over an area of 45 acres, utilized for the college, hostel, staff quarters, playfields and gardens. [4]
