I had been using other torrent clients (with limited success) and heard that QBit was better. The majority of my torrent downloads now get stuck on Downloading Metadata. I am using a VPN and have selected "Any Interface" in Qbitt's Advanced Settings section. I have tried each of the individual interfaces but that didn't fix it.

Allow uTorrent through Firewall. Update tracker. Use a VPN. Run tests in uTorrent. Force Protocol Encryption.
Torrent is at 99.9% and also shows 512 KiB are left to download (assuming you show the "Remaining" column)… Stop, Force Re-Check, Start, it "resynchronizes" and now shows only 64 KiB remaining, at which point it downloads those final 64 KiB and terminates successfully.

Sequential downloading means to download all the torrent pieces in logical order. Piece 1, piece 2, piece 3 and so on until the torrent completes. If you have a multifile torrent it will download each file one at a time in piece order. If you wish to download a specific file sequentially you have to tell qbittorent to "skip" all the other files ...
