db4690 February 19, 2014, 7:47am 11. The aftermarket AC Delco batteries with the blue label (over the counter) are absolute crap, in my opinion. The factory AC Delco batteries with the gray label (the ones that are in the truck when you buy it new) tend to last 7 years in Southern California.

  5. Restoring a Deep Cycle Battery with EDTA - Car Talk Community

    community.cartalk.com/t/restoring-a-deep-cycle-battery-with-edta

The EDTA chemical “Battery Restorer” claims to work by stripping the sulfate off the plates and in the end the resulting sulfur compound is deposited into the bottom of the battery, permanently lowering the S.G. of the electrolyte which lowers the capacity of the battery…The theory being that half a loaf is better than none, a last ditch ...

  9. Car Batteries in the Apocalypse

    community.cartalk.com/t/car-batteries-in-the-apocalypse

  11. CCA specs on batteries; north [cold] or south [hot ... - Car Talk...

    community.cartalk.com/t/cca-specs-on-batteries-north-cold-or-south-hot-climates...

Agree with above posters; cars in the “north” have larger batteries because they need lots of cranking power (CCA)on cold days!! I lived in the tropics for 5 years and the battery in my car was about half the size of the one in my car back home. It filled only 2/3 of the battery case, since this model was also sold for export to Europe.
