Edmund N. Ansin (March 9, 1936 – July 26, 2020) was an American billionaire and co-founder of Sunbeam Television. He was credited with being an innovator in the television news industry, breaking away from the conventional mold that had been used by other independent stations.
The Sunbeam began in 1925 as a heavyweight train. In June 1926 it took 6 + 1 ⁄ 2 hours each way, leaving Houston at noon and Dallas at 1:25 p.m.; in August 1937 it scheduled fifteen regular and flag stops in the 6 + 1 ⁄ 2-hour run. The Sunbeam was re-equipped on September 19, 1937, as a streamlined train in the Daylight paint scheme.
The newspaper began publication on November 4, 2012, following a merger of three affiliated papers, Gloucester County Times, The News of Cumberland County and Today's Sunbeam of Salem, each of which were founded during the 1800s, and all of which ceased publication after their November 3, 2012 edition.
