I had to replace my computer. I have Spectrum as my internet provider. I want to use my Outlook to read and send emails. I need to get this set-up ASAP. What do I need to do?
7/5/23, 5:05 AM. more options. I have been using Thunderbird as my email client for many years with Spectrum. I recently hit a problem with sending mail and Spectrum support has not been helpful ("We don't support 3rd party clients"). I can no longer send outgoing email using Thunderbird on any of my Spectrum email accounts.

I have used Windows Live Mail as my email client for years. Even though this program is no longer supported, I continue to use it as it has served me well over the years. Recently I had to change my ISP and get a new email address. I am now with Spectrum/Charter. While I can RECEIVE emails, I cannot SEND any email.
By the way, I use Outlook to check two email addresses I have: personal email (Charter/Spectrum), and work email (Microsoft Exchange). There is absolutely no problem with my work account; the problem is only with my Charter/Spectrum account. This leads me to conclude that the problem lies with Spectrum, and not with Outlook, but...
I use Charter.net email for my Microsoft sign in account. Mail doesn't work with the auto configuration and doesn't give me an option to delete it or even an option to go to advanced settings to fix it. This occurs on multiple laptops and also seen the same question on several forums specifically for Charter, with no answer.
Your account 2 is set up as a POP account but with IMAP settings, and account 3 is IMAP but the connection security is SSL/TLS when it should be None. Both accounts are set to send on charter.net when it should be smtp.charter.net or mobile.charter.net. When you add an account to TB, choose manual config. to enter the required settings.
Open Tools/Account Settings, select Outgoing Server (SMTP) at the bottom of the left pane, then select the entry for the charter-business smtp server and post 'Details of selected server' here (hide personal info). You can select an smtp server in the right pane and Edit.. to change the settings.
mail.spectrum.com for both in and out using ports 995 and 587. mobile.charter.net for both in and out using ports 993 587. All of the above we used with SSL and with none. Also tried auto and manual setups. I use both Outlook 2013 and 2016 and tried all these options on both.
I am trying to set up my existing email on a new computer/Outlook. We have service through Spectrum Business and the settings they provide either don't work or don't match the options available to me. Help.
