University of Barishal is situated in the district of Barishal under Barishal Division. It is located at Karnakathi on the eastern bank of the Kirtonkhola river beside the Barishal-Patuakhali highway about 2 kilometers from the center of Barishal City. The university campus is spread over 50 acres of land.
History. Non-Government Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority was established in 2005 by the Government of Bangladesh. [1][4][5] It holds annual Teachers Registration Examinations in Bangladesh. In 2017, 527,757 candidates took the examination and 147,262 of them passed. The authority has published 17th NTRCA syllabus.
The law allowed local government bodies and Bangladesh embassies abroad to register births and deaths. The Office of the Registrar General of Birth and Death was established in September 2013 to establish a permanent central database of birth and death records.
In 1985, the NIEMT was renamed the Bangladesh Institute of Distance Education (BIDE) which offered, apart from audio-visual materials, a Bachelor of Education (BEd) programme via distance learning validated by the University of Rajshahi. The success of BIDE encouraged policymakers to take up a major plan for establishing an open university.
Southeast University (SEU) was established in June 2002 as a private university under the Private University Act 1992. The President of Bangladesh is the chancellor. The university is run by a number of statutory bodies as required under the provisions of the Private University Act, 1992.
The Institute of Management and Information Technology was established in 1998. [3] Sarwar Jahan and Ishrat Jahan obtained approval in 2002 from the Ministry of Education to elevate the institute to a private university, named Southern University Bangladesh. [4]
In August 2007 it organized Open Source Campaign-5 [12] which was a step towards open source awareness in Chittagong and in Bangladesh. It ran from 31 August to 1 September 2007. It mainly focused on open source and its features, flexibility and its opportunities in Bangladesh and the whole world. Recently IEEE Day 2021 was celebrated at IIUC.
