  2. RockAuto Parts Warehouse Locations - Bob is the Oil Guy

Yep, and the part may not even be made yet. I was looking at Coverlay replacement door panels for my Explorer on Rock Auto, and there was a note that there is a "2-3 day delay." It turns out that is because Coverlay makes the panels to order. Rock Auto's price on them is WAY lower than ordering on the Coverlay website.

  3. RockAuto parts? Good or not? | Page 2 | BobIsTheOilGuy

    2) must select "core return" online for both (all) parts before printing the label. (otherwise you will print up 2 labels, more cost) 3) the return is via FedEx ground. $8 to return 15 pounds, FL to NY. Even my FedEx account can't do it that cheaply. Bottom line: Half the cost of the local auto parts store for the very same part.

  4. Canadians using RockAuto - please chime in. | BobIsTheOilGuy

Rock Auto doesn't sell just the sub-assembly I needed, so they weren't an option. I agree on the multiple shipment points problem. When I looked at ordering the entire assembly from them, shipping costs doubled as soon as I added a belt to the order (cost more to ship the serpentine belt than what the belt itself cost).

  6. RockAuto Spark plugs legit or counterfeited? | BobIsTheOilGuy

    bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/rockauto-spark-plugs-legit-or-counterfeited...

I have used Rock Auto NGK plugs - there half the cost. There was a legit documented case of fakes from RA on Toyota Nation maybe a decade ago? It can happen anywhere I guess. I always google the return address on the shipment from RA. It usually shows up as a major parts warehouse. My last order came from Parts+Plus in Ohio.

  7. Rockauto customer service for returns? | BobIsTheOilGuy

    bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/rockauto-customer-service-for-returns.263101

You go on their site and answer questions. They go down the line of asking you your make and model and at the end they say manufactures can substitute parts of other companies but it will never affect fitment or function. Rockauto believes all the aftermarket parts they sell are the ultimate quality and perfect.

  8. How does Rock Auto do it? - BobIsTheOilGuy

    bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/how-does-rock-auto-do-it.311953

First, Rock Auto doesn't own any inventory or warehouses. They are a drop shipper. Second, Rock Auto's prices are closer to what shops and fleets pay for their parts. They get better prices than retail customers do at parts stores such as Autozone,. AAP, Napa, Pep Boys, etc. Rock Auto gives those prices to everybody.

  9. RockAuto: Economy vs Daily Driver vs Premium Parts

    bobistheoilguy.com/.../rockauto-economy-vs-daily-driver-vs-premium-parts.326661

Some of these brands just rebox an OEM supplier's part, so would they really go through the trouble of having inventory of two separate parts for the same application? As an example, I'm looking at an upper ball joint for a 1998 Toyota 4Runner and the AC Delco 46D0116A (economy line) appears to be physically the same as the AC Delco 46D0116 ...

  10. Buying "OEM" brand oil filters on RockAuto | Are they genuine?

    bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/buying-oem-brand-oil-filters-on-rockauto-are...

Rockauto posted a picture of a "black" Wix filter and its part number implied a premium product. I got a store brand (as expected-- I ordered closeout) but the part number was a cross reference, and its suffix showed it was actually the lower-tier product.

  11. Ordering parts from RockAuto - A/B/C/etc warehouses aren't fixed?

    bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/ordering-parts-from-rockauto-a-b-c-etc...

Semi off topic, but one of our Canadian online parts places has started the Warehouse A and B bit. Free shipping is available for orders over $100 fulfilled from the same warehouse. Before, it didn't matter. The shipping is still reasonable if it's from different warehouses and still over $100, but they picked up on the Rock Auto model.
