Dover Township was officially organized by the Lucas County commissioners in Toledo on June 5, 1843. The first election on August 7, 1843, was held at the residence of Mortimer D. Hibbard. [19] Dover was the last township organized in the county. It is also the smallest of the townships in Fulton county. [14]
