Survival rate is a part of survival analysis. It is the proportion of people in a study or treatment group still alive at a given period of time after diagnosis. It is a method of describing prognosis in certain disease conditions, and can be used for the assessment of standards of therapy.
Formula. The survival rate formula is straightforward: \ [ \text {SVR} = \frac {S} {D} \times 100 \] where: \ ( \text {SVR} \) is the Survival Rate (%), \ ( S \) is the number of survivors, \ ( D \) is the number of people who contracted the disease.
Life tables are used to calculate survival rates. For population projections, 5-year survival rates are computed. For estimates of net migration, 10-year survival rates are calculated. Calculations of survival rates rely on two columns in the life table, L x and T x.
