Evergreen is an unincorporated town, a post office, and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Jefferson County, Colorado, U.S. The CDP is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Evergreen post office has the ZIP Codes 80439 and 80437 (for post office boxes). [4]
Beginnings. The first school in Jefferson County and the second school in Colorado opened in Golden on January 9, 1860. It stood at around today's 1304 Washington Avenue and was a rented log cabin, with school taught by Thomas Daughterty, with 18 students, financed through tuition and subscription. Its second term was taught by Miss M. F. Manly.
The colors, the mascot, and the name of Spruce Mountain High School were chosen by high school and middle school students of Livermore Falls and Jay. The Phoenix was chosen as the consolidated high school's mascot to represent the end of a long-standing rivalry and the new chapter in the history of all three communities. [3]
