Copper Mountain is a mountain and ski resort located in Summit County, Colorado, about 75 miles (120 km) west of Denver on Interstate 70. The resort has 2,465 acres (3.9 sq mi; 10.0 km 2 ) of in-bounds terrain under lease from the U.S. Forest Service , White River National Forest , Dillon Ranger District.
Copper Mountain is a roughly 8,317 foot mountain in the Bridger Mountains, a small range that straddles the Fremont and Hot Springs County line. [3] The range rises north of Shoshoni, and is split by Wind River Canyon. The Owl Creek Mountains are west of Wind River Canyon. Copper Mountain is also sometimes known as Bridger's Mountain.
Parys Mountain was mined for copper ore in the early Bronze Age, as shown by sub-surface debris nearly 4,000 years old revealed during excavations in 2002. Since then, access has been regained to the sealed underground workings of the Parys mine, revealing further evidence of ancient mining.
