It's not your repair tool that is bugged (most likely), it is just the Aurora being a buggy piece of shit as always and not fully loading everything properly as it tends to do. There might be another way of getting into the prawn bay without using your repair tool. This has happened to me lots but I still found my way in.

I cannot use it! I can assign it to a quickslot, and with it, "Use repair tool" on the "damaged radio" turns into "Use repair tool (A)". The tool is 100% charged. Now, (A) button does nothing! I cannot equip it either. I assume some button in Inventory screen should take it from "Inventory" to "Equipped", but none of the buttons does it.
